Who We Are
Starsphere K.K. is a Japan-based company founded in 2012 to support clinical researchers in capturing and managing clinical trial data. In 2016, we launched DokodemoForm® EDC, a cloud-based electronic data capture system tailored to the needs of Japanese organizations conducting investigator-initiated studies.Today, Starsphere has expanded beyond EDC to provide specialized consulting services in data analytics, computer system validation (CSV), and AI system validation.
Our Mission
Starsphere’s mission is to help life sciences and other regulated companies achieve the benefs of technological innovation while maintaining compliance with governing regulation. We enable clients to stay competitive, improve patient outcomes, assure drug safety, comply with global regulations, and make effective use of growing data and technologies such as AI, NLP, and machine learning. Our services strengthen GxP compliance and deliver data analytics capabilities that support better decisions while measuring and demonstrating compliance in a complex regulatory environment.

Founder and President
Steve has held senior executive leadership positions with Estée Lauder Companies and leading global pharmaceutical organizations including Mundipharma, driving digital transformation, technology strategy, and business growth across Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
Akiko van Maanen
Co-Founder and VP of Development
Akiko is the Co-founder of Starsphere and designer and chief engineer for DokodemoForm our cloud-based EDC system. She has over thirty years experience providing software solutions to healthcare organizations.
John Murphy
VP for Consulting Services
John brings decades of executive leadership experience, including as Representative Director and President at ArisGlobal KK in Japan, partnering with global pharmaceutical companies to deliver innovative technology solutions for pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs, and clinical development.
